This is where I'll be putting everything related to my DnD campaign that doesn't yet have a home
I'll be editing this rather sporadically as I write things and can't find appropriate pages for them. This is going to be the bottom priority page, and eventually everything that winds up here will find a more proper placement.
Materials and their unique interactions
- Gold: Gold is entirely immune to magic, no matter how mundane or extravagant it is. Only things which can alter reality itself to indirectly impact gold are able to impact it, such as a wish spell. It should be noted, however, that this anti-magic property is inherent to gold, and cannot be altered or removed on a large scale, though that doesn’t stop wizards from trying every now and again. Golden armor and weapons are often fashioned by mage hunters due to these properties. It is important to note that gold is itself still magical, but in such a way that outside magics are negated.
- Silver: Silver is a naturally effective weapon against anything that isn’t in its true form, anything from a raging lycanthrope to a wild shaped druid, even dragons are affected by this property. Any transformed creature that sustains enough damage from silver will eventually be forced back into their true form. The one exception to this are changelings, as their ability to change shape is non-magical.
- Gemstones: Gems are, in some ways, the opposite of gold. Rather than negating magic, gems are able to store and amplify latent magic, and as such are often used in magic foci. The larger and purer the gem, the more capacity and potency it has. While different types of gems don’t have different properties (eg. a diamond and an emerald of similar size and quality will function exactly the same), casters will often use gems that match their general aesthetic.
- Copper: More than just a conductor of electricity, copper is also an excellent conductor of magic, serving as a crucial component in magical technology. This property is also used in conjunction with gemstones to enhance their absorption capabilities, though it is important to note that copper by itself does not enhance magic in any way. Some have tried to use copper in place of gold to dissipate or redirect magical attacks, though this has somewhat limited results.
